Title
I've installed SCO/Xinuos 5.0.7V on Hyper-V and can't get ReccoverEDGE to boot
Keywords
OpenServer 5 Hyper-V RecoverEDGE re2
Product Release(s)
03.00.01 build 4
Operating System(s)
SCO OpenServer 5.0.7V
Problem Description
While attempting a boot of my RecoverEDGE media, the process hangs.
Cause
There is a new flag required in the boot string, wd.mwdma
Solution
If you have already made an iso image: When you boot the RecoverEDGE image, at the boot: prompt, don't press [Enter]

Instead, type:

defbootstr wd.mwdma

Then press [Enter]

RecoverEDGE will boot to the main menu.

If you have not yet made an iso image:

In RecoverEDGE go to the Configure Menu select BOOT IMAGE, change the "Include Following Boot String Types:" field to include "wd" (not "wd=").

The resulting line should look like this:

Include Following Boot String Types: ct= hd= mem= cache= wd
Press F3 to return to the main RecoverEDGE menu.
All future media images created will have the extra flag automatically added.

Notes
SCO (now Xinuos) ONLY supports OpenServer 5.0.7V on Windows Server 2008 R2. It is not supported on any other platform. Microlite Corporation does not support Hyper-V. This tech note is provided as a courtesy only.
