Problem Description
|

Attempting a backup using BackupEDGE, the error message "Error: Primary Resource: Read Blocksize Failed". BackupEDGE will not
continue from this point on.

Cause
|
|
This is most likely caused by having a legacy model tape drive or one that
does not recognize the low level SCSI commands that edge is issuing to inquire on the status of the tape drive.
|
|
Solution
|
|
To remedy this, log in as root, invoke edgemenu->Admin->Define Resources. Select and edit the resource for your tape drive, move your cursor to the Interface field. Change the value from SCSI to Other using the right arrow key.
It is also possible that your tape drive is not responding to a call from the OS. Make sure you can access the drive from the command line using edge.tape or attempt to write using tar.
