Product Release(s)

Operating System(s)

Linux (glibc 2.0)
Linux (libc)
Problem Description
While attempting to test boot RecoverEDGE on my Linux server, I got the following error.

Illegal Opcode

EAX=A0DE6176 EBX=3D1CDF4 EXC=000000BC EDX=00002649

Then the system halts. How do I get around it?

Cause
If you are seeing this while booting RecoverEDGE media, there is an issue with your BIOS security and the boot media.
Solution
To remedy this issue, reboot to your hard disk and then edit the file:

/usr/lib/edge/config/master.cfg

Find the variable FORCE_LILO, it currently defaults to "NO". Change the value to "YES" and then save the change.

Return into RecoverEDGE and recreate your media image. Once completed, attempt a test boot.

Your RecoverEDGE should successfully boot.
