Problem

Using a monochrome monitor and booted off the recovery diskettes, screen appearance and cursor behavior are abnormal.

Cause

Terminal emulation is not being set properly.

Solution

Make the following changes so that terminal emulation is set correctly. The ansi terminal emulation file will be replaced with a modified ansi terminal emulation file which includes settings that will enable proper screen appearance and cursor function when running on a monochrome monitor. The following procedure outlines the necessary changes.
          1. While booted from the recovery diskettes and in the top level
RecoverEDGE 2 menu, invoke Utilities -> Shell

          2. Change directory to the appropriate location by executing the
              command:

                  cd /usr/lib/terminfo/a

          3. Make a copy of the ansi file for safekeeping and then copy the
file ansi_ncc (short for no color console) to ansi by executing
              the following commands:

                  cp ansi ansi_old
                  cp ansi_ncc ansi

          4. Exit from the RecoverEDGE 2 shell and return to the RecoverEDGE 2
              menu.

The terminal emulation mode should be set properly.

If you are still experiencing difficulties, return back to the top level RecoverEDGE 2 menu and toggle the Monochrome/Color option once and then proceed with the restore as usual.
