without floating point processors
Problem
-
When I try to create recovery diskettes, I get the error
message "Floating Point Exception - Core Dumped."
Cause
-
This problem occurs when running RecoverEDGE 2 on SCO XENIX
systems without floating point processors. The RecoverEDGE 2
Xenix binary has been compiled under SCO UNIX. The SCO UNIX
compiler generates a floating point instruction which is valid, but
emulated incorrectly by the SCO Xenix emulator.
Solution
-
Back up the
/etc/emulator file on the Xenix system to a different
filename for safekeeping. Copy the file /etc/emulator.ms from
a SCO Unix system to /etc/emulator on the Xenix system. Shut
down and reboot the system so that the new emulator is
recognized. Create a set of recovery diskettes.
