Problem Description
While attempting to initialize a url resource under BackupEDGE, I get an error saying 500 RE*T Not Understood.
Cause
We've found that the SonicWALL Gateway subsystem suppresses the use of the FTP 'REST' (restart) request to prevent the sectional retrieval and reassembly of potentially malicious content.
Solution
Override this setting in the SonicWALL by going to Security Services - Gateway Anti-Virus - and click "Configure Gateway AV Settings". Check "Enable FTP 'REST' requests with Gateway AV" and click on "OK".
Other firewall appliances may have similar options. Please consult your User's Guide.
