Problem Description

The edgemenu program under AIX will scramble the screen when navigating to another program called from the menu.

Cause

This happens usually when the terminal is hard wired to the system. Meaning it is connected to the server via a serial port. The program edge.remote does not take into account the existence of the serial connection. This causes a handshake error and scrambles the screen.

Solution

Replace /usr/lib/edge/bin/edge.remote with a new one. This updated edge.remote program can be downloaded from our ftp server. The address is ftp://ftp.microlite.com/pub/fixes/edge.remote.aix. To install it, copy it into the /tmp directory on your AIX server. Then type the command 'cat /tmp/edge.remote.aix > /usr/lib/edge/bin/edge.remote'
