I get an error code 52 "Cannot Open Volume Pipe" when starting a backup/verify/restore.

Problem Description

|
When starting a backup / verify / restore operation, I get an error code 52 almost immediately.
|
|
Cause
|
|
Error 52 idicates that edgemenu or edge.nightly could not communicate with the volume switching subsystem.
Usually the log file /usr/lib/edge/lists/LogFile will contain additional information.
|
|
Solution
|
|
Make sure that the directories /usr/lib/edge/system/tmp /usr/lib/edge/system/locks and /usr/lib/edge/system/pipes exist. If any of these are missing, you may get an error 52.
