Daylight Savings Time Patch - Important Notice

Microlite BackupEDGE 2.x releases use shared libraries. The SCO OpenServer Daylight Savings Time Patches essentially change the way shared libraries are handled, which may cause BackupEDGE to stop functioning.

See the list below for recommendations.

Note that older BackupEDGE 01.0x.0x releases are not affected.

Operating System

Problem / Solution

SCO OpenServer 5.0.7

The shared library changes began with SCO OpenServer 5.0.7 Maintenance Pack 4 and are included in Maintenance Pack 5, which has the DST patch.

All versions of BackupEDGE 2.x beginning with 02.01.04 build 2 dated 11-11-2005 will work on OpenServer 5.0.7 regardless of maintenance pack level.

SCO OpenServer 5.0.6

Instructions for making BackupEDGE 2.x products work when purchasing and installing the SCO Daylight Savings Time Patch 1.0.0 on SCO OpenServer 5.0.6.

Make sure all SCO pre-requisite patches and updates, such as RS506A, have been installed.

Make sure your BackupEDGE has been updated to at least 02.01.05 build 5 . This is a free update to any system with a licensed version of a BackupEDGE 02.00.0x or 02.01.0x product. No release earlier than 02.01.04 build 5 is compatible with the DST patch.

Install the DST patch. It is not necessary to re-boot the system.

Re-create and test your RecoverEDGE media.

If you've already installed the DST patch, simply installing 02.01.05 build 5 over the current release will re-enable it. Remember to re-make the RecoverEDGE media.

Alternate Procedure. Use only in emergenices. Not tested with older versions of BackupEDGE 02.0x.0x.

Dowload the following file into the /tmp directory of the target system.

ftp://ftp.microlite.com/pub/fixes/libgcrypt-mlite.sco5

Type the following command:

# cat /tmp/libgcrypt-mlite.sco5 >/usr/lib/libgcrypt-mlite.so1

This command is on one line, even if it appears as two in your browser. This may be done before or after installing the DST patch.

SCO OpenServer 5.0.5

Instructions for making BackupEDGE 2.x products work when purchasing and installing the SCO Daylight Savings Time Patch 1.0.0 on SCO OpenServer 5.0.5.

Acknowledgments. The SCO Professional Services team was instrumental in updating our encryption library to function whether or not the Daylight Savings Time patches and updated libc libraries are installed. We are grateful for their help.
