IOMEGA REV Support (Autoloaders)

The Iomega REV Autoloader 1000 (Including Barcode Option) is supported on all of the above platforms except AIX and OpenServer 5.0.6.

The Iomega REV Loader 280 USB and REV Loader 560 USB are supported under Linux (release 02.01.05b2 or later required) and on SCO OpenServer 6.0.0 with Maintenance Pack 3 (MP3) installed (release 02.02.00b2 or later required).

IOMEGA REV Firmware

Iomega releases periodic firmware updates to improve the performance, write and read reliability of REV devices. It is important to make sure that you are running the most recent firmware release. This is available at no charge from Iomega by browsing to the Iomega Web Site and selecting Support & Downloads, followed by REV.

Setup/Pre-Requisites

SCO OpenServer 6.0.0

All current SCO Maintenance Packs required. All ATAPI, SATA, SCSI and USB devices will work. AHCI compliant host adapter / motherboard and latest AHCI drivers needed for SATA.

SCO OpenServer 5.0.7

SCSI device is highly recommended.
SCO Maintenance Pack 4 (MP4) or later arerecommended.
At least SCO MP1 and "wd" supplement are required for ATAPI.
Lack of MP3 will cause problems with ATAPI on SMP/Hyperthreaded CPUs.
Use "mkdev cdrom" (not "mkdev tape") to create device support for REV. Use "mkdev cdrom" + "mkdev juke" for Autoloader 1000.

SCO OpenServer 5.0.6

SCSI device is not usable.
SCO RS506A and "wd" supplement are required for ATAPI.
Use "mkdev cdrom" (not "mkdev tape") to create device support for REV.

SCO UnixWare 7.1.4

Linux - 2.6.x Kernels

SATA users require appropriate SATA driver or ATAPI emulation. Test before deploying.

ATAPI users must:
 (1)  use the standard ide-cd driver.
 (2)  make sure that DMA is enabled on the REV port.

Generally, later 2.6.x kernels are more reliable for both ATAPI and USB. No autorun/automount daemons should be running on the REV port.

Linux - 2.4.x Kernels

ATAPI users must:
 (1)  use the ide-scsi driver.
 (2)  make sure that DMA is enabled on the REV port.

IBM AIX 5.x

SCSI device is plug and play.

USB Booting

USB Booting is mostly the ability of the PC BIOS to boot from a CDROM device. Older BIOSes are not capable of this. This functionality should be tested on a platform-by-platform basis.
