- Support for DRTape bootable tape drives for disaster recovery.
- Deployment and management through Volution Manager from The SCO Group.
- Detection and handling of Volution Messaging Server during backup and disaster recovery.
- A new Update Manager assures easy access to the latest updates and patches.

Brief New Features List
- DRTape
compliant storage devices are now supported for creating Bootable Backups(tm) under Linux, OpenServer 5, UnixWare and Open UNIX 8.
- In Volution Managerenvironments, BackupEDGE SS for Linux may be copied to the Volution server, and then deployed to many systems using Volution Manager's
web-based interface. Product upgrades are handled through Volution. Backups may be scheduled using the Volution interface.
- Volution Messaging Server
is automatically detected during product installation. Changes are made to the BackupEDGE SS
scheduling and disaster recovery components to facilitate safe backup and recovery of VMS databases.
- Administrators can interactively check the Microlite update servers for new releases from within the BackupEDGE SS
menu system. If a newer release is found, they can choose to examine the list of new features, then optionally download and install the new release automatically. BackupEDGE SS
can set up a scheduled task to check for and optionally cache upgrades, then notify the administrator.
Bootable Backups Bootable Backups are backups that can be booted directly into disaster recovery mode
in the event of system failure or catastrophic data loss. BackupEDGE SS supports Bootable Backups to tape, CD or DVD media under Linux, OpenServer 5, UnixWare 7 and Open UNIX 8.Microlite
Corporation is currently the only company supporting the DRTape bootable tape specification on all of these platforms. It was also among the first to support the Hewlett Packard OBDR, or One Button
Disaster Recovery bootable tape specification on Linux, and remains the only company to support OBDR on OpenServer 5, UnixWare 7 and Open UNIX 8.
